About Bass Mika:
The distinguished Finnish bass, Mika Kares, studied with Professor Roland Herman at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Mr. Kares sings many varied roles but, in particular, has made a name for himself as a performer of Verdi, Wagner and Mozart.
From 2005, until the end of the 2010 season, he was an ensemble member with Baden State Opera. Guest performances have taken him worldwide to places including Barcelona, Bologna, Hong Kong, Munich, Paris, Parma, Salzburg, Seattle, Valencia and Vienna, where he has performed under the baton of many great conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Teodor Currentzis and Marc Minkowski.
Future engagements, at home and abroad, include Norma/ Oroveso and La Favorita/ Balthasar at the Bavarian State Opera, Luisa Miller/ il Conte di Walter at the Graz Opera, Lohengrin/ Heinrich der Vogler at La Monnaie du Munt Bruxelles, The Magic Flute/ Sarastro at the Opernhaus Köln, The Marriage of Figaro/ Bartolo at Opernhaus Zürich, Agrippina / Claudio at Theater an der Wien, Turandot/ TImur at the Bregenz Festival and Das Rheingold/ Wotan at RuhrTriennale.
